Lectures and Classes on Russian Art and Architecture

If you are interested in learning about Russian art history, our company can organize special lectures/classes on different topics from the history of Russian art.

We arrange art professors and PhD's from the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg to help you learn and understand the roots and specifics of the national art of Russia. The lectures may take place in museums or your hotel facilities.

Classes on Russian art or Russian Applied Arts can be implemented in the itinerary of any of our Russian Tours.

List of available Art Classes

Russian applied art

  • Russian Applied Art. The lecture will cover the basic aspects of Russian applied arts history and will talk about traditional schools of Russian decorative painting: Palekh, Zhostovo, Kholui, Khohloma, Gzhel, Fedoskino. (matreshka dolls, lacquered boxes, trays, shawls etc:.)

  • History of Russian Icon painting. The class is dedicated to the history, technology and essential principles of icon painting
  • Russian architecture


  • History of Russian architecture (The lecture will cover the main aspects of the history of Russian architecture i.e. old Russian wooden huts, pagan temples, orthodox churches, exquisite baroque palaces, constructions of Soviet era)


  • History of Russian oil painting (Early works of Peter the Great's time, Academy of Fine Arts and the establishment of the classical school of painting, itinerant art, abstract art and the avant-garde of Malevich and Chagal.
  • History of Russian Theater Art. The Class is taught by the very talanted Theater Artist Evgenia Gradova who was a lead artists for numerous theater productions. The class will cover the main aspects of theater costume design and sets design.
  • History of Russian porcelain. The history of Russian porcelain dates back to 1744 when the Russian scientist Dmitrii Vinogradov discovered the secret of making porcelain. Since then Russia has had numerous private and Imperial porcelain manufactures, many of which were internationally recognaized for the high quality and artistry of their porcelain.
