Dear Fellow Travelers:
Schastlivogo Rozhdestva! This is the way the Russian people greet each other during the holiday season. We of course say, "Merry Christmas!"
This month our newsletter will highlight some of the many ways in which the Russians celebrate Christmas. It is interesting to note that
they too have their St. Nicholas (Grandfather Frost), but he plays a lesser role in Russia because the basis for their gift giving is
founded on the gifts of the Magi to baby Jesus. One thing is certain. Even though we celebrate on December 25 and the Russians celebrate
on January 7, it is a very special time for both nations.
To tell you the truth New Year's celebrations in Russia are real blowouts, but Christmas has a more somber overtone.
It reminds me of what I would like to think our own Christmas celebrations used to be before commercialism took over.
We are still looking for travelers who wish to see Russian Spring and hope that you will take the plunge for our upcoming April trip.
We plan to highlight Russian Vodkas and caviar, and we will explore Russian cuisines as never before.
